"A mind that is relaxed and calm gives off a relaxed and calm feeling throughout the body"

Many golfers do not realise how tense they become when playing a round, especially when there is the added tension of being in a competition. As mentioned earlier, on a round lasting up to four hours or more, you may only be actually hitting the ball for 15% of the time. How good would it be if you were spending the rest of that time having the ability of switch your thoughts on and off, whilst relaxing your mind and body.

There is a lot of evidence that shows how our thoughts influence our physical responses. When your body is tense, your muscles are tense which leads to tight and awkward movements. Tense muscles are weak muscles, and cannot apply much power to the ball. If your muscles are relaxed, especially in your shoulders, hands and forearms, your movements will be more fluid, coordinated and powerful. Think back for a moment to your best round of golf - the chances are you were feeling relaxed and confident and were enjoying the game.

 Changing Beliefs

Bunkers

It is easy to convince your unconscious mind about something. If you tell yourself something often enough it becomes a belief and you start to behave in a way that confirms that belief.

How many times have you labelled yourself ?

  • I'm a useless putter
  • I'm hopeless in a bunker
  • I slice really badly

I will give you the mental tools to help you change these beliefs, thereby giving you the opportunity to change your attitude and beliefs towards your golf.
